Set between the agricultural region of the Swartland and the untamed landscapes of the West Coast, De Wildeveldt is a place where ancient history and a return to nature exist in quiet harmony. Born from a deep appreciation for this remarkable region, its rolling terrain, arid vineyards and expansive skies, De Wildeveldt has been shaped into a wilderness sanctuary that honours both the land and the spirit of South African hospitality.
The family-owned De Wildeveldt spans 2,000 hectares of uninterrupted natural beauty, inviting guests into a world of stillness, space and discovery. The landscape is defined by sandveld and rhenosterveld biospheres, home to a rich diversity of flora and fauna, and transformed each spring by the West Coast’s celebrated wildflower bloom.
This is a living landscape, carefully restored and thoughtfully protected. Ongoing conservation efforts focus on removing invasive vegetation, preserving indigenous habitats and encouraging biodiversity to flourish. Much of the land has remained untouched for close to a century, allowing nature to reclaim its rhythm.
Equally integral to De Wildeveldt is its community. A dedicated local team brings warmth and authenticity to every guest experience, while social initiatives, including a farm school and aftercare programmes, support the education and wellbeing of the children who call this land home. It is this connection between land, people and purpose that defines the farm’s character.
Accommodation at De Wildeveldt includes the Veldt Haus Collection and the romantic Thatch Haus bolthole. each designed as a secluded retreat for couples. Two further farmhouses, currently under restoration, will open in late 2026, offering family stays.
At De Wildeveldt, time slows. Whether wandering through wild flower fields or simply taking in the vast horizon from a quiet verandah, every moment is grounded in a sense of place, where considered luxury meets the untamed beauty of the West Coast.

Currently, our Veldt Haus Collection and Thatch Haus is suited to two persons sharing, however in late 2026, De Wildeveldt adds Stilveldt Cottage and Reedsong House, offering self-catering accommodation for familes and larger parties from four to eight guests.

For the discerning traveller, De Wildeveldt offers a considered and intentionally understated approach to accommodation, designed to exist lightly within its surroundings. Our philosophy is simple, to preserve the integrity of the land with minimal intervention, allowing nature to remain the defining presence.
Each space has been thoughtfully created from existing farm buildings, restored with care to retain their original character while introducing a sense of quiet comfort.
The current offering includes the Veldt Haus Collection and the Thatch Haus, now open to guests. In late 2026, Stilveldt Cottage and Reedsong House will open, expanding De Wildeveldt’s ability to host families and small parties of friends.
Looking ahead, additional accommodation will be introduced in 2027 through the sensitive restoration of further heritage structures on the property, some dating back to the early 1900s.
At full completion, De Wildeveldt will accommodate only eighteen guests across a boutique collection of private hideaways, ensuring a rare sense of seclusion, privacy and connection to the surrounding wilderness.
